On January 4-5-6 and 8-9-10 in Almaty and Astana respectively Oxford Teachers’ Academy seminar was held for
English language teachers of kazakh-turkish high schools throughout Kazakhstan.Oxford Teachers’ Academy (OTA) was established by the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education, in association with Oxford University Press. It provides English language teachers with classroom activities and materials based on sound methodological principals.
The seminar was conducted by OTA teacher trainers Teresa Doguelli and Aida Ishenbaeva. The theme of the seminar was Teaching English to Teenagers.
67 teachers from all kazakh-turkish high schools attended the seminar that took place in Almaty Kazakh-turkish high schools for boys for teachers from southern region and in Nurorda International school in Astana for teachers from northern region of the country.
During the seminar, the Oxford trainers shared their methodological knowledge and experience with teachers in the field of teaching teens. At the seminar a great number of new activities and games were presented to teachers, many problems concerning teaching teens were discussed and, most importantly, the seminar gave great inspiration to teachers to use back in their schools. The seminar passed in a very warm and friendly environment.
At the end of each session participants were asked to write their feedback basing on which the teachers will be given special certificates by Oxford Teachers’ Academy.
