Kazakh language Olympiads
In order to elevate the status of state (Kazakh) language, an inter-schools republican Olympiad is held. Students from all regions, Almaty and Astana participate in the Olympiad. The Olympiad includes 5 sections: language study, singing, coherent reading, stage acting, project defence. The winners of each section are identified.
It is the first multi-sectional Olympiad on Kazakh language organized in the country.
The objective of the Olympiad is to develop and broaden the area of usage of the Kazakh language, to identify and support the talented students in Kazakh language.
The Olympiad is to boost students’ interest in Kazakh language, literature, traditions, history, culture and other national values, and to affect their skills and abilities in individual development. 
The sections of the Olympiad are as follows:
1st section. ‘Language study’ – in this section students’ knowledge of Kazakh language grammar is evaluated.
2nd section. ‘Coherence of speech’ – in this section students’ fluent speech, understanding the meaning of concrete words, recognizing literature patterns are assessed.
3rd section. ‘Singer nightingale’ – the objectives of this section is to propagate the Kazakh folk songs and to define the gifted youth and help them develop their talents.
4th section. ‘Stage dramatists’ – the objectives of this section is to propagate the masterpieces of Kazakh poets and writers, spread the plays with good manners.
5th section. ‘Young intellectuals’ – project works on national values are examined.

Youth is for healthy living’ health fair
One of 7 priorities of president Nazarbayev’s ‘Kazakhstan-2030’ strategy program says ‘Improving health, education and condition of citizens of Kazakhstan’. Based on this, in 2006-2007 academic year, ‘KATEV’ International Foundation in order to realize the Kazakhstani government’s regulation ‘Healthy living’ and to encourage the people of Kazakhstan to healthy living organized a republican health fair named ‘Youth for healthy living’ sponsored by TIKA (Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency).
The fair focused on such urgent and useful topics as dangers of smoking to health, struggle against alcoholism, protective measures against AIDS, regular nutrition, and appropriate use of information flow in internet and computers. The fair took place in all regions of the country and such largest cities as Astana and Almaty, and it was visited by thousands of students and parents. 50000 copies of a book explaining how to deal with bad habits were given free of charge to the participants. Every student that attended the fair acquired complete information about healthy living.
Nauryz (a feast celebrated with the arrival of spring)
Another peculiarity that has been practiced in kazakh-turkish high schools since their opening is the annual celebration of Nauryz. On this great day, ancient Kazakh homes- Kiiz yis- are set up, special national drink-Nauryz kozhe- is prepared and all guests are welcomed with spring warmth. Consequently, a feeling of hospitality that has penetrated into Kazakh people’s blood is renewed once more. Not only school students but their parents take part in these events too.

In all regional centers ‘KATEV’ International Foundation organized methodological seminars on teaching Kazakh language in school where students are educated in Russian. In these seminars almost 2000 teachers got acquainted with the latest various methodologies of teaching Kazakh language.
All these participants were given a book named ‘Kazakh language for Russian-educated schools’ as a present written by Kanat Ibragimov, Kazakh language chief methodologist of ‘KATEV’ International Foundation.
Science fairs
Since 1998-1999 academic year, under the guidance of ‘KATEV’ International Foundation, teaching staff and students of kazakh-turkish high schools have been annually organizing science fairs. In these fairs, students present to public their knowledge and experience accumulated on mathematics, computer science and social studies. Widely-spread in America and Europe, organization of these fairs is the success of kazakh-turkish high schools.
8th grade science Olympiads
Every year a science Olympiad among 8th graders is organized by ‘KATEV’ International Foundation. In this Olympiad students are assessed on all subjects. Prizes are given to winners. This encourages students to participate in republican and international science contests in the future. About 1500 students of kazakh-turkish high schools from all over the country take part in this competition.
IMPC- International Mathematics Project Competition

From 1999 to 2006, ‘KATEV’ International Foundation together with republican scientific-practical center ‘Daryn’ organized International Mathematics Project Competitions on regular basis. The objectives of the competition are to identify the young intellectuals, to provide conditions for developing their talents and to promote Kazakhstan on international arena. IMPC served as a bridge for meeting and establishing scientific relations for youngsters of other countries.
